Yes, That’s right one of my favourite game modes on Battlefield 5 is coming back to the Battlefield 5 rotation on April 25, 2019, definitely a date for the dairy if you’re a battlefield fan.
So, If you didn’t get a chance to play Squad Conquest last time it was in the rotation I bet you’re wondering what it is?
This mode is a small fast paced 8v8 player match where two teams compete against each other to capture and hold on to three main flags and try and run out the other sides respawn points. There is also access to one tank for each team, supported properly they can dominate and keep the other team pinned down for the duration of the round. (I have seen it happen and experienced it first hand)
Last time Squad Conquest was around, there were only three maps available which were, Arras, Hamada and Rotterdam the maps worked well with Rotterdam being my favourite (My K/D went sky high playing on Rotterdam). The problem was because of the limited number of maps it got repetitive quite quickly, but there are plans for new maps to be added this time around so hopefully, Dice will give us some great new maps and breath a bit of freshness into the mode. I don’t mind waiting just make more, but For now, we just got to stick with the same maps as last time.
Hamada on normal conquest mode is not a map I enjoy playing on, but on Squad Conquest it’s scaled down and plays nicely. I really enjoyed my time playing last time, and I’m looking forward to jumping in and playing a few rounds this time. And just for people who don’t know this mode is free to play.
There are only six days before World War Z is released and I can’t wait this has been my most anticipated game of April since I saw the first trailer a couple of months ago. Saber Interactive has released a new trailer which is a quick overview of the gameplay.
It seems to me every big company these days is taking a stab at there version of gaming subscription service because they don’t want to be left out and every company seems to be following the trend after Microsoft has done their games pass. At its March 25th “It’s Showtime” event Apple announced a foray into game subscriptions and here’s what I know.
Apple Arcade will bundle over 100 new and exclusive games. All of the games will be ad-free and will not include any in-app purchases. These games are not going to be triple AAA games like you will get on the other gaming platforms like Xbox One, PS4, and PC they are not going to be using cutting edge graphics but the graphics are not going to be poor quality either.
Apple says these games will be high quality with a focus on simplicity and exclusivity and will be family-friendly across the board. They also believe that with Apple Arcade there will be a significant number of games that will only be made because of this platform.
Apple Arcade will help solve the problem of discovering high-quality games which is a problem on the app store because of the size of it and how many crap mobile games there is out there.
When Will It Be Released And How Much Is It?
The three burning questions on my mind when a new service comes out is, does it look any good? When’s it out? And how much is it going to cost me?, if I do decide I want it. The details are fuzzy when it comes to answering those questions but what I do know is it’ll launch sometime this Autumn in over 150 regions, and there has not been a price announced yet. And if you are an arcade game fan, then it might appeal to you because of the promised high-quality games that you can’t play anywhere else.
But like google stadia they don’t want to be too greedy because there is a lot of competition from other gaming subscription services.
Who’s On Board
Apple has signed deals with the likes of Disney, Gameloft, SEGA, LEGO, and Konami for the bundle. And has got some highly regarded game developers such as Hironobu Sakaguchi and Ken Wong to get them off to a strong start.
How Are They Different?
You always want to know (What Make You Different?) and the difference is I guess apple arcade will not be a streaming service and will not be a standalone app but will have its tab along the bottom bar of the App Store app alongside the general Games tab. And each subscription supports Family Share, allowing up to six people to play on the same account). Their games will be downloadable for offline play unlike google stadia, which is good news for people with a poor internet connection.
A Cool Little Feature I like.
Apple Arcade will be playable across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. But the thing I think is cool is that you can access your game you were playing on your Ipad and carry on that same game on your iPhone without having to start the game from scratch so all devices are linked and it doesn’t matter where you start a game or even finish a game.
Is There A Controller
With google stadia bringing its controller out that looks surprisingly like the PS4 controller. Apple specifically says “many games will offer support for game controllers. I don’t think it will be their primary focus.
The Games That Have Been Confirmed So Far Are?
The Artful Escape Atone: Heart Of The Elder Tree Beyond A Steel Sky The Bradwell Conspiracy Cardpocalypse Doomsday Vault Down in Bermuda Enter The Construct Fantasian Frogger In Toy Town Hitchhiker Hot Lava Kings Of The Castle LEGO Arthouse / LEGO Brawls Lifelike Monomals Mr. Turtle No Way Home Oceanhorn 2: Knights Of The Lost Realm Overland The Pathless Projection: First Light Repair Sayonara Wild Hearts Shantae 5 Sneaky Sasquatch Spidersaurs Team Sonic Racing UFO On Tape: First Contact Where Cards Fall Winding Worlds Yaga
My Final Thoughts
If you are a fan of arcade style / retro games and want more high-quality mobile games experience and have not brought a Nintendo switch, then it might be worth a look. Personally, I am not a big mobile gamer and will not be using the service. But might be great for people who are addicted to mobile games or want an arcade / retro game fix. The only downside I can think of is that if you are only interested in one or two games, you still have to sign up for the full service because the games included in Apple Arcade will not be available outside of the bundle.
Yes, according to google the next generation of gaming is not a box; it’s any device that can run the Chrome browser.
The behemoth that is Google is taking a stab at the gaming market and is looking to shake things up with there Stadia platform and get Microsoft and Sony Worried and maybe even loosen there grip on the world of gaming.
So What Makes Stadia Different.
The real thing that sets stadia apart from other gaming platforms is there is not going to be any physical hardware that you will have to buy. It will be a streaming service for all your triple-A games, and they handle all the hardware requirements and stream you the 4k 60fps seamlessly to your device.
Well, that’s what’s meant to happen, there is not an enormous amount of detail about stadia. Like the big question, how much is it going to cost? But there is a controller which looks a lot like the ps4 controller just white, and the buttons are named different things but basically do the same things as any other gaming controller. It must be a winning design for Google to copy Sony.
Two features that interest me
The google assistant and Youtube integration. From the trailer, if you are stuck on a part of the game that you can’t seem to figure out, then you can ask the google assistant without leaving the game and it will show you How to get a particular item or escape a room and find out what you need to know and then carry on with the game, sounds to good to be true, but if it works like they said it would be amazing. And it could be a reason why people use the platform over others.
The other feature is the heavy Youtube integration with a button on the stadia controller that can send game clips straight to Youtube. And if you are live streaming a game and your viewers decide the game looks good and want to play it they can jump right in from the point they were watching from and will not have to start from the beginning. That’s cool AS HELL !!! You can watch the trailer here.
Netflix is more than a company name.
It feels like the word Netflix means more than just a company name these days, as you hear the term Netflix of games thrown around all over the place and people are wanting a vast selection of content for a low monthly price. It will be interesting to find out the price point of stadia because Google needs to be very careful not to price themselves out of the market because the Xbox one games pass is only £7.99 a month and the Playstation now service is £12.99 per month.
The lag could suck the fun out of it.
Lag is the worst thing in a game end of conversation, Nah only joking but it sucks BIG TIME and is the enemy of the gamer, and there is massive concern that stadia will not live up to the promise of seamless gaming on any device. People that played on the stadia platform demo at the (Game Developers Conference) GDC say that the lag was noticeable when playing the faster-paced doom and resulted in a few unwanted deaths but wasn’t noticeable when playing the slower assassins creed odyssey game. Google has there work cut out for them to bring a smooth, fast-paced shooter to the platform.
Only time will tell when Google stadia will be released this year 2019, and when I know more and tried it out for myself, I will give you an update.
